Kitalale, Kenya: Late September of 2008, a team from America visited Kitalale, Kenya with a vision to plant not only a few trees, but far more importantly, to plant hope. The Children of Hope (COH) is well under way, with plans to open its doors to children in late 2008 (or early 2009).
It is estimated that by 2010, Kenya will have more than two million orphaned children due to disease, conflict and poverty.* Together, we want to bring hope to lives of these children through spiritual, social, physical and educational resources.
Children of Hope is uniquely developed to give orphans a loving, family environment in which they can grow and achieve God’s purpose for their lives. In addition, community outreach events—seminars on child development and health, immunization clinics, school uniform distribution, and Vacation Bible Schools—empower and support families and children in the greater community.
The Kitalale COH home is the first to be launched anywhere. And the Children of Hope outreach events will be offered in Circle of Light (the sister ministry of both COH and Synergy Initiatives) communities throughout Kenya.
