Waitaluk, Kenya: In September of 2005, Healing Waters International (HWI) launched its first safe drinking water project on the African continent in the Kenyan community of Waitaluk. The purpose of the pilate project was to see if HWI’s existing model could be financially sustainable in a rural African community. After three years of supplementing the operational expense and monitoring the data, HWI made the difficult and inevitable decision to pass the project over to Kenyan nationals for its continued maintenance and operations. And though there are no further community projects identified or in the works, we are still in regular contact with HWI regarding future water related partnering opportunities and they remain a valuable strategic alliance relationship.
